Part 1 Training in ACT With Adolescents and Youth This advanced-level workshop is worth 6 specialised CPD hours Suitable for Professionals in both Mental Health and Educational Settings
NB: you must have attended at least a 2-day introductory ACT workshop (ACT Training Part 1) with a recognised ACT trainer.
Have you wondered how to use ACT with teenagers and young people? Or are you perhaps worried about how to transfer the techniques so that young people will be engaged? This one-day workshop will help you extend your ACT skills so that you can use experiential techniques confidently and dynamically with adolescents. ACT with Young People is energising, engaging, and makes therapy a shared journey in development. Psychologist Louise Hayes, Australia's leading expert on the use of ACT for Adolescents and Youth, is now running a dynamic 1-day workshops on ACT for Adolescents and Youth, in Melbourne, Perth and Hobart, for a fee of only $275. Dr Louise Hayes has completed a trial of ACT with adolescents, which was funded by 'Beyond Blue': Australia's National Depression Initiative. This program included individual and group treatments using ACT with adolescents. Louise is now using the findings from this work to train professionals in the use of ACT with young people, and to develop more ACT therapeutic materials. The workshop will be experiential and will use a range of simple exercises that have been shown to work well with young people. You will learn how to use ACT principles while also considering the developmental stage of adolescents. We will focus on skills that are easily presented to a young person. The workshop will be useful for professionals working across a range of settings where young people seek help, including private, public and educational services. You will receive support materials including handouts for use with adolescents, and a step-by-step group program. In this workshop you will learn: - How to adapt the six core principles of ACT into exercises for young people
- Developmental considerations when using ACT techniques
- ACT ways of talking collaboratively with young people and creating an experiential space for behaviour change
- How to create your own ACT exercises for young people using readily available resources
- How to help young people connect mindfully in sessions
- How to create mindful exercises that young people can use in their lives
- Considerations for group work with young people
You will receive: - Art materials for experiential exercises
- A variety of handouts for use with young people
- An electronic copy of the Experiential ACT Adolescent Group Program
